THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE AT MIKRA THIRA
Theatre Company “O Thiasos” presents a staged reading of Leo Tolstoy’s masterpiece “What Men Live By”, on Friday, September 19th, 2025, at 18:00, at our winery, with free admission.
About the play
The story is simple. A poor shoemaker, on the coldest night of winter, went out shivering in the snow to collect the money owed to him. On a street corner, he came across a strange, naked man collapsed on the ground. He decided to take him home. From that moment begins a chain of mysterious, unexpected, and extraordinary events that will reveal to him and his wife one single truth — the answer to the question: “What do men live by?”
Tolstoy’s short story is a stroke of genius precisely because of its simplicity — like an angel or a holy man. It speaks to people’s hearts with sincerity, sensitivity, and clarity about what should be self-evident, but which the world seems to have forgotten… People believe they live because they take care of themselves, but in reality, it is love that keeps them alive.
This event is part of our commitment to support culture and the local community in Therassia. Through such initiatives, we seek to open our space to experiences that nurture the spirit, bring people together, and highlight the value of collectivity.
